Shawn is an accomplished race car driver, engine builder
and now husband and father of 3. He has been involved
in racing all of his life. Shawn grew up in the pits at
the drag strip watching his father race. Unlike the dirt
tracks, he was able to enter the pits at a young age.
This experience allowed him to get hands on experience
with the motors, transmissions and set up of the car as
a kid. Shawn took this experience and applied it when
he started racing as an adult. He raced karts for only
a year and had a brief career in sprints and then in 1996,
he moved onto a much more affordable car - Emod, but much
more of a challenge to drive. After Shawn had mastered
the set-up and driving of the emods on the short tracks
he moved onto the 1/2 mile slick tracks at the end of
the 2003 season. By the end of 2004 he had those mastered
well. In 2004, he decided to chase a points championship
for the first time in his career, but only after several
discussions with his chassis builder which included a
deal that he could not refuse if he won. Shawn did win
his 1st Championship even with missing the first couple
of weeks of racing. Unfortunately, he was only able to
run a limited schedule in 2005 and 2006 due to work and
other commitments, but Shawn hopes to run a full schedule
in 2007 if time and money will permit.
